2/26/11 - Ready to Go!

Don't faint......  Here is a picture of ALL our luggage.....   There are 18 pieces in the picture.  forgot to put my computer bag in. Now remember, we leave the three old donation suitcases on the island we're visiting.....  We also set our two road bags in the picture that we will leave in the car when we board the ship.  We will put my cosmetic bag and the first aid bag in one of the cases at the CA hotel .... (we left room in one of our larger cases for those two items).  We will actually check 12 pieces...... and carry on 3.  Also remember we're packed for a month on the ship, plus 6 to 12 days coming and going to San Diego.

Jim weighed each bag....we have a total of 474 pounds of luggage in the picture.  Then he loaded the car..... Decided to leave our hanging bags folded, most of the clothes will shake out after hanging, or we can have them pressed onboard the ship..... They take up less room in the car that way and we don't want to leave them laying out with all the stops we have to make...

No doubt about it, we are totally loaded!  Our road bags will ride in the back seat where they're easy to get to, along with the backpack which holds all of our must have items that we need on a daily basis or at a moments notice including our medication and sunglasses, It will be carried into each stop along the way and on board with us...... My computer and camera will be in the front seat with me, and we will also carry those on board.....

You see a case of water sitting on the duffel bag.  The ship allows you to bring as much water, wine and soft drinks on board as you choose.  (they charge for water on board) so we decided by taking our own it would save a lot of hassle when needing bottles to take on shore excursions to have it in our room handy.  The umbrella will go in the back seat....and I am taking my walking stick with me and it's laying up between all the cases but is easy to reach.

Next stop a motel somewhere around Trinidad Colorado on Sunday the 27th to wait out the storm before we head over Raton pass and find our way into New Mexico on the last day of February.....then on in to San Diego on March 2nd.  We will have a couple of days to get reorganized before embarkation on March 4th

Raton pass cira 1900 just South of Trinidad CO - Let's hope the roads don't look like this

My folks eloped from Trinidad -- going over the Raton Pass to get married in New Mexico to hide the fact from their parents. Yeah, like they were able to hide that for long!

Have a great, great time!

If I didn't know better...... from the looks of that luggage, I would think you were running away and NEVER coming back! Looks like everything BUT the kitchen sink!

Enjoy every minute!

Love Janet

Janet, as the days came closer to the time we were to leave, the more I crammed in! I probably COULD survive forever if the ship happens to leave me behind.....geez wouldn't that be too bad... :)
