At Sea

Today is Thursday March 17-A.  Tomorrow will be Friday 17-B.?????.....   Not much to report other than we did cross the equator today.  They had a ceremony up by the pool today led by King Neptune where all of the crew who had not crossed the equator before, (known as polywogs)  were punished by being drenched in some horrible looking slop then being thrown in the pool...  Upon returning to our room we received a certificate from the captain stating that “having been found seaworthy we  have each been duly initiated into the Royal and Ancient Order of Shellbacks, which exalted status confers upon us the freedom evermore to cross our equator.”...
We’ve had beautiful weather all day with an average temperature of about 80 deg., calm seas with not much wind..  I laid in the lounge chair on the veranda for quite a while this afternoon.....
We had our “Le Cirque” meal last night...  It was very good and I was especially impressed with the truffle vinaigrette used to dress the salad, and the corn soup was great....  The service was impeccable and it made for a very nice evening..   We have another sea day tomorrow when the date line should get straightened out again......
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A new day and they’re saying it’s Friday but really it’s only Thursday, I think some time tomorrow we will get even again....
We had rain showers and rocky seas again last night but nothing too bad...  Today will be another day at sea but we have nothing in particular planned...  It’s St. Patrick’s day so I’m sure there will be some special activities on the top deck.   It’s already hot this morning....  80 deg. out on our veranda.....

We will be getting to the island of Raratonga tomorrow so I will post about our first snorkeling run if we live through it.

Well, we knew all along you both had "sea legs" and could swim the rest of the way to Raratonga if need be, but were glad you don't have too:) How fun to be certified by the Captain! It's just so awesome that you are on the other side, so to speak. Bet it's just so beautiful! I would be quite temped to "strand" myself on one of those islands! Enjoy the beach and rub in the sand and be wary of sea creatures named Jim!
